If I used my boot laces I’d have to quit my day job then the little women would get out the shot gun!  Vern

Just joined and thought I’d add my .02 worth. I have bought two straps but like the one I made myself better. As soon as I figure out how to post a picture, I’ll post one of the strap I made. I’ts not too hard to do. I used a belt blank from Tandy leather and with a few leather tools had a one of a kind strap.

Here’s a picture of my first mandolin strap. I keep this on my Eastman F-Style. As soon as it cools off enough to work in the garage, I’ll start one for my new Turkey Creek.

Just tied a soft boot lace to my Mid-Mo at the nut and strap button using a hangman’s knot on each end, works great.

I have a strap, but the tendency I have is to not use one at all...........I find myself holding the Mandolin with my forearm with no difficulty.

Update: “Fendoman” in the “MandolinCafe.com Forum arranged for a strap that was handmade for me, made from Hemp, that was WONDERFUL!!  (Not expensive).

I find that “standing” (as was true for me with the guitar as well), changes things significantly enough, and for the “better,” that it is worth doing.

A leather bootlace works well and is cheap. just make sure it is long enough.

A very nice strap can be made by round braiding 4 lengths of Bootlace (72 inch)(cost about $8).  Google “round braiding” to get instructions.
