Anybody in the Paducah area?  I’m outside Smithland, Ky.

I’ve been playing only a short while and would like to find someone nearby for casual jam and learn sessions.

That would be great.  I was up that way a few weeks back when I went through to W. Virgiinia.

I’ve also now found out about an every Saturday jam held in a closed store.  It’s evidently an all day jam and pretty informal, with everything from old time country to lots of bluegrass.  It’s in a small town about 45 minutes from me, and I’m hoping when I get my hay done and the farm work slows down I can get over to it.

If you get down this way you’ll have to check it out.

When I was in school at U.K. there was a Saturday evening music program at Natural Bridge State Park.  It was sponsored by the Park for the tourists, but I know lots of local bands would show up and sometimes it turned into a pretty good jam after the tourists cleared out.  Is that still going on?

That was the one.  I’ve heard that it is no longer happening.  After years of being an every Saturday event the store owner evidently has health problems and could no longer commit to doing that every week.

I only went the one time, and didn’t have an instrument with me (people kept trying to hand me an upright bass so I could thump along).

I’m mainly picking around on a banjo these days, in my spare time.  Still mostly on the couch late at night.
