Importing ABC Files

The Registered Version of TablEdit will Import ABC files.

Start with a new file: File > New > New Tablature > Check box for Mandolin; in Comments add TablEdited by yourname > OK.

ABC files can be imported in 3 different ways: 1) files copied from a Web source, stored in clipboard; 2) ABC file, with single tune, stored on your computer; 3) ABC file, with multiple tunes, stored on your computer. Title Information, Chord Names, Time and Key Signatures will be imported with the music. The results will reflect the quality of the ABC file.

1. ABC files copied from a Web source, stored in clipboard:
File > Import > Clipboard >ABC > Cancel > File > Save As.
To copy ABC from CoMandoList post: With cursor immediately before the X: hold down left mouse key while drawing cursor down to end of ABC info. In browser menu, choose Edit > Copy. Info is now in Windows clipboard.

2. ABC file, with single tune, stored on your computer:
File > Import > ABC > File: choose ABC file from File folder > Open > Import > File > Save As.

3. ABC file, with multiple tunes, stored on your computer:
File > Import > ABC > File: choose ABC file from File folder > Open > Import ABC: Choose one item from the list of individual tunes > Import File > Save As.


Note: you can also import an ABC file, by right-clicking on the file icon in your computer directory > Open With > Choose Program: to add TablEdit to the list for future ease, find the tabledit.exe file > OK > (Before importing, always open a new file first: File > New > Mandolin > OK) > Import ABC: Choose one item from the list of individual tunes > Import File > Save As.
